Inglewood Takes Action Against Noise Complaints from Music Festival

In response to a surge of noise complaints following the recent Hard Summer techno-music festival near SoFi Stadium, Inglewood Mayor James Butts announced on Friday that music performance stages will no longer be allowed at the venue's elevated American Airlines Plaza.

Mayor Butts stated that the elevated stage in the plaza was identified as a significant factor contributing to the issue and, as a result, stages will not be permitted in that area for future events. Additionally, the city will require enhanced sound engineering and a more comprehensive plan to address sound and bass frequency management.

Complaints started coming in from South Bay communities, particularly El Segundo, with residents reporting vibrations and loud noises from the festival featuring artists like Nelly Furtado, Disclosure, and Camden Cox. Despite previous outdoor concerts at the Hollywood Park property without complaints, the city was surprised by the extent of the noise issue.

City officials collaborated with festival organizers over the weekend to explore solutions, focusing on specific bass frequencies affected by stage position, building reflection, and atmospheric conditions. By taking these steps, the city aims to mitigate noise disturbances and ensure a more enjoyable experience for all attendees at future events.
