PM Modi Commends Indian Athletes at Paris Olympics 2024


India secured a total of six medals at the Paris Olympics 2024, including one silver and five bronze, marking a successful campaign for the Indian contingent. As the marquee event concluded, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the athletes who represented the tricolour on the global stage. With a closing ceremony, the Paris Olympics officially wrapped up on Sunday.

PM Modi took to social media to commend the Indian athletes, stating that they had given their best and made the country proud. A total of 117 Indian athletes competed in various sports, with standout performances from shooters like Manu Bhaker and Swapnil Kusale. Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals in a single Olympic edition, including a team medal in shooting.

In the overall medal tally, the USA emerged as the top-performing nation with 126 medals, followed by China and Japan. Team India finished at the 71st spot with their six medals, showcasing the growing prowess of Indian athletes on the international stage. The men's hockey team also replicated their success from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, adding to India's medal tally.

As the focus shifts to future sporting endeavours, PM Modi wished the Indian sporting heroes continued success in their pursuits. The achievements at the Paris Olympics 2024 have brought pride and recognition to the nation, setting the stage for greater accomplishments in the world of sports.
