Inglewood Implements Ban on Concerts at SoFi Plaza Following Noise Complaints

In response to a wave of noise complaints stemming from the recent Hard Summer music festival held outside SoFi Stadium, Inglewood Mayor James Butts announced on Friday that music performance stages will no longer be allowed at the venue's elevated American Airlines Plaza. The decision came after the elevated stage was identified as a significant contributor to the noise issues, prompting the city to take action to address the concerns.

Mayor Butts emphasized the need for enhanced sound engineering and a more comprehensive plan to manage sound and bass frequencies at future events. The complaints, mostly from neighboring communities like El Segundo, highlighted vibrations and booming noise during the festival, featuring popular acts such as Nelly Furtado and Disclosure. Despite previous successful outdoor concerts at the Hollywood Park property, this particular event raised unexpected challenges.

City officials collaborated with festival organizers over the weekend to explore solutions, focusing on mitigating specific bass frequencies that were causing disturbances. Factors such as stage positioning, building reflections, and atmospheric conditions were identified as influencing these frequencies. The goal was to ensure that future events at SoFi Stadium maintain a balance between entertainment and respect for surrounding neighborhoods.

By addressing the concerns raised by residents and law enforcement, Inglewood aims to uphold a harmonious relationship between event organizers and the community. The ban on music stages at the plaza reflects a proactive approach to preserving the quality of life for all residents while supporting the cultural vibrancy of the city's entertainment scene.
